The photo does a very good job of contrasting the guy and
the swans and ducks. It shows this contrast by having the guy standing in the
snow wearing a black jacket and the swans, which are white, in the body of
water which appears black. This photo is also very well balanced with a
asymmetrical balance down the center of the photo, once again caused by the
contrasting black and white. This photo
speaks to me because I feel that cold weather puts me at ease, and this photo
makes me feel the same way. The snow also makes me think of the holidays and
how they are time for giving and being nice, just like the guy is being kind to
the swans by, what looks like, feeding them. Also if you look at the picture
long enough you see the “come at me bro” swan which makes me laugh and that’s
always a good thing to be able so laugh even when its serious photo or
situation. Also the ducks kind of blend into the water and I did not notice them
the first time I looked at this photo. I love that the picture is in black and white because it lets the viewer notice a lot more detail and it lets you see the great divide.
